Nicolas Cage: A Fascinating Journey Through Love And Marriage

He is one of the most fascinating actors ever — but while Nicolas Cage is known for his extensive film resume, he has also made headlines for his relationships. If you’re not familiar, the Oscar winner has walked down the aisle five times, with his most recent marriage in February 2021.

Nicolas tied the knot with Riko Shibata just two days after Valentine’s Day in “a very small and intimate wedding at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas,” his rep confirmed to Us Weekly nearly one month after the nuptials in March 2021. “It’s true, and we are very happy,” Cage said in the statement.

A rep for the couple shared in a January 2022 statement to People that they are expecting their first child together. “The parents-to-be are elated!” the rep went on to add. Nicolas and Riko previously posed together for a gorgeous spread in Flaunt magazine in October 2021.

Prior to marrying his fifth wife, the famous actor was in several high-profile romances. He first said “I do” to Patricia Arquette in 1995, and the pair were married until 2001. However, that was just the beginning of the star’s matrimony journey.

The National Treasure actor walked down the aisle for a second time with another notable name, Lisa Marie Presley, in 2002. The “Lights Out” musician once appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live and spoke about first meeting the film star.

“It looked attractive like I could be equal,” she recalled during the interview. “Similar situations, similar backgrounds. So we connected, we had a great connection. We were both a bit — we’re sort of these gypsy-spirited tyrannical pirates.”

Lisa Marie noted their instant connection was ultimately their downfall. “One pirate marries another they will sink the ship basically is what it comes down to,” she explained. “It was one of those things where you’re marrying hoping that you’re going to either stabilize it or it’s going to, you know, accentuate all that was going on prior to what was problematic … so it kind of did the latter, that’s all.”

Nicolas also touched on his relationship with Lisa Marie, telling Barbara Walters in an interview, “When you have two people who are very strong in their own personalities and rather intense sometimes — I’ll even use the word stubborn or not willing to compromise — you can have a hard time meshing.”

Nicolas and Lisa Marie ended their romance after just two years in 2004, and he went on to marry his third wife, Alice Kim, that same year. The pair were together for 12 years, which marks Nicolas’ longest marriage, but they split up by 2016. He then exchanged vows with Erika Koike in 2019, but their Las Vegas wedding ended in an annulment after just four days.
